The Gorilla Creative Troop is the brainchild of Yianni Konstantopoulos, an experienced entrepreneur and seasoned agency professional who brings over 15 years professional experience in creative, social, digital & trusted strategic leadership capacities to his clients.  His work has spanned across industries, taken him to nearly 20 different countries across 5 continents, and allowed him to help solve some of the most critical challenges facing some of the world's most respected and recognized brands.

"I started the GCT because the traditional agency model is failing ... and failing quickly.  The question that we ought to be asking is 'What is the point of an incredible idea if no one engages with it?'  I really feel this outlook allows us to fundamentally uncover the root of our client's challenges, and in doing so allows us to break new ground in how they are approaching their audiences, their revenue streams, and those critical challenges that will transform their business. We pride ourselves on how we come to our creative concepts, by merging powerful creative insights with the latest in social and behavioral technology to ensure the effectiveness of our efforts.  Traditional advertisers STILL tackle problems through the lens of 'impressions' and think that throwing more money behind tv, or mobile, or digital ads will magically bring a cure.  Digital agencies are quick to build something --- a microsite, a new app, a geofenced anything --- but do so without first understanding the crux of a client's challenge and failing to realize that a tech play driving 'traffic' isn't always the best solution.  Gorilla Creative Troop is different both in how we work with our clients, as well as the results we can demonstrate, not just promise."

The Gorilla Creative Troop is a fluid collective of independent senior practitioners who span a variety of creative disciplines, unified by a core set of guiding principles.  Depending on a project's scope, tailored teams are assembled from a diversity of skill-sets and backgrounds. From strategists to art directors, copy writers to digital analysts, coders to web designers, social media practitioners to event planners, and nearly everything else in between, we can deploy specialists to solve any marketing and communications challenge.  And just like a troop of Gorillas across the African savannah, we firmly believe that the sum is far greater than its individual parts.

Before launching GCT in June of 2015, Yianni served as Group Managing Director of Social@Ogilvy and was based in Sydney, Australia where we oversaw a 16-person team spanning broad digital, social, and creative disciplines.  He routinely advised clients at leading international brands on how to better leverage digital and social technologies to not only better understand their target audiences, but also on how to create meaningfully engaging programs that drive business performance.  He was frequently sought to present his insights at corporate gatherings and often headlined high-profile industry and PR-association events.  In approximately 2 years, social@ogilvy transformed into one of Australia's most effective and awarded agencies, winning several prestigious awards in Australia and across Asia.

Prior to social@ogilvy, he served Vice President of New Business at Blue State Digital, a fellow-WPP company that is most recognized for its ground-breaking and historic efforts on the Mr. Barack Obama's Presidential campaigns.   Yianni joined Blue State Digital with a mandate to bring the firm's tremendously successful model of digital engagement in the political and not-for-profit spaces to corporate clients and larger multinational organizations.  While there, he had the privilege of securing several notable accounts to the firm's roster, including The Nature Conservancy,  Dow Chemical Company, the Rockefeller Foundation, PBS, and many more.  

Earlier in his career, Yianni was Vice President of Strategy, Sales, & New Business Development at a boutique creative firm called Avendi Media and served as a senior C-suite consultant at the Corporate Executive Board where he worked directly with CFOs, heads of corporate development and strategy, and CMOs at Fortune 500 organizations. 

Yianni is a graduate of the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.  When not busy working with clients, he can be found outside hiking in Rock Creek Park, coaching the FC Spartan Glory soccer club, or playing with the couple’s dog @apollothevizsla.  Yianni proudly lives in the Petworth neighborhood of the District with his wife Lisa and their young son.
